Thomas Jefferson was the third President of United States of America who wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776, which declared the 13 colonies free from England and the rule of the King.
He was an avid reader and loved to read books even if it is written Latin.
He had a personal collection of thousands of books. He sold more than10, 000 of his own books to the US Library of Congress. He sold his books for $23,950 as a substitute for books lost when the British burned the U.S. Capitol, which housed the Library of Congress, during the War of 1812
He was a true humanist and was instrumental in the inclusion of Bill of Rights to the Constitution of United States.
Although not a great speaker, he was proficient in writing. He drafted the Declaration of Independence after lengthy deliberation with a five-member drafting committee that included John Adams and Benjamin Franklin.
